As we begin the Holiday season let's remember to step back and focus on what is most important. We tend to overflow our time with activities, parties and get togethers. This year take the time to remember what is most important and be grateful for the little things. An easy way to do this is through food, the one thing we all have in common.
If you don't already, pick a night where your entire family can sit down and eat together. If nights are too busy, try breakfast or lunch one day or weekend. Baking is a great way to bond as well and can be given as gifts. Gathering together creating any dish and celebrating around the table is magical and brings gratitude to the forefront. It's a time of conversation, being mindful of the food we are eating and the important people in our lives. If family lives far away, create a zoom call and cook together!
You can create traditions with your loved ones by cooking a family favorite or starting your own new tradition. Both my mother and mother in law had family traditions during the Holiday season and now I have taken over those traditions. My daughter and I make cavatelli, an Italian pasta. It is served on Christmas Day and everyone looks forward to it.. It's a fun time with my daughter making the cavatelli, celebrating our Italian heritage, my mother and getting messy!
My mother in law loved baking cookies with her grandchildren, so I always make a day to bake cookies and have the kids decorate them. Those times become cherished memories and help my family live through their legacy. It's a simple time remembering what's most important and fills our hearts.
So whatever you decide to do I hope you can carve some time to remember all the things you are grateful for this Holiday season. Thanks for stopping by.
With love,
Rae Ellen
